The overarching aim of the SIG on AI in Oral Health Education is to explore, develop, and implement artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance the quality and efficacy of education in dental radiology for undergraduate and postgraduate students in different clinical subjects (periodontology, prosthodontics, oral surgery, etc).
Furthermore, this SIG aims to improve integration of new technology in dental curriculum and democratize access to these technologies across different European Universities. The group will serve as a collaborative platform for dental educators, researchers, and industry professionals to advance the application of AI in oral health education.
Specific Objectives:
- Promote Integration of Digital Technology in Oral health education: Foster the integration of AI-based tools into the dental curriculum to improve students' diagnostic skills and understanding of dental radiology.
- Enhance Learning: Leverage AI applications to personalize student learning experiences by identifying areas of struggle and providing tailored feedback.
- Support Faculty Development: Provide training and resources for educators to effectively incorporate AI technologies into teaching methodologies.
- Conduct Research: Facilitate collaborative research projects to evaluate the effectiveness of AI tools in improving learning outcomes and diagnostic accuracy.
- Establish Best Practices: Develop guidelines for the ethical and pedagogical use of AI in dental education.
- Promote democratization of under and postgraduate dental education in Europe: Assure same quality of curriculum in oral health education in different European Universities.
